Grip Size Matters
The correct grip size allows you to set the club properly at the top of the backswing. A few rules of thumb: (1) the bigger your hands, the thicker you’ll want the grip, and (2) the more you tend to hook the ball, the thicker you’ll want the grip. A grip that is too thin can promote overactive hands through impact, and overactive hands often lead to hooks. Arthritic hands? Opt for thicker grips.
I would suggest playing the same style and grip size for woods, hybrids and irons. Most people buy their clubs from different manufacturers, or they buy used clubs. To maintain a consistent feel throughout the set, re-grip all of your clubs with the same grip model and size. Selecting your grip style should be based entirely on feel. Most companies offer soft, firm, tacky, smooth and weather condition options.
